Hat Yai Municipal Park

The lawn of the royal statue is also used as a venue for activities on Chulalongkorn Day every year. Khao Khao Hong is a small mountain in the public park. There is a road leading up to the top of the mountain, which can be used by cars and motorcycles. In addition, there is a tram service from the tourist service center to take you to the top of the mountain. The fare is 20 baht per person (if you want to use the tram back down, you must keep the ticket to show the officer). On the top of Khao Khao Hong is a large Buddha statue in the blessing posture, named "Phra Phutta Mongkhon Maharat". In front of the Buddha statue is a viewing platform for the view of Hat Yai city. You can see the view as far as Songkhla Lake. Tourists usually come up to see it in the evening because they can clearly see the sunset. The Sala Thao Maha Phrom is located on top of Chumsak Mountain, which is a part of Hat Yai Municipality Park. Inside the pavilion is the shrine of Thao Maha Phrom, the highest deity of Hinduism, and a large statue of Erawan elephant. The pavilion is another beautiful viewpoint in Hat Yai. Hat Yai Cable Car, the first cable car in Thailand, is located on Khao Kho Hong. There are 2 cable cars with a distance of 525 meters and each round trip takes 2.30 minutes. It can carry 8 passengers at a time. It is a route to worship the sacred objects located on top of Khao Kho Hong from Station 1, which is Phra Phutthamongkhon Maharaj, to Station 2, which is the statue of Thao Maha Phrom. While sitting in the cable car, you can see the scenery of Khao Kho Hong mountain range, houses in Hat Yai city, and Songkhla Lake. At the cable car service station, there is a coffee shop and souvenir shop. The cable car is open for service. Tuesday-Thursday 9.00-16.30 hrs., Friday-Sunday 9.00-18.00 hrs.
